Have Your Cake… And Tea Too

It seems that High Teas, Afternoon Teas and Devonshire Teas have never been more fashionable than they are now. I remember when a certain bakery in New York was put on the map when it was included in an episode of the television show Sex And The City, I heard it became so popular that the store went on to employ a bouncer! I can’t believe there’s now even a cupcake fan club!

We’ve been thinking, what makes a good Tea experience? Is it the cup of tea, the scones or perhaps more importantly, the cakes? A friend of mine swears it’s the scones, I’d be leaning to the glass of champagne myself! What would your ultimate Tea experience be?

  1. Re suggestions......it would be great to be able to pop into a hotel for fab tea/coffee and dessert in the arvos.....encourage people to have like in winter a yum self saucing choco pudding, hot fudge brownies, sticky date pudding....apple crumble with icecream and apple pie.........rich mini baked cheesecakes would go well in a high tea, I would see if you could find like a ‘fortune chocolate’....like a fortune cookie but made with chocolate...cute....fiddly but interesting and a bit quirky.....Also those old school cakes and slices that nobody makes anymore -coconut and jam slices, chocolate mint slice, almond glazed slice, oh and date loaf with butter!!!!!!!!!!!!, tiny neenish tarts and tiny apple and cream turnovers.....oh goodness I am hungry now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......if you kept them all dainty they would be soooo cool......xoxo

  2. Now, afternoon tea.........I would pay between $35-$55 for a high tea....the $55 includes a glass of bubbles ( not french)....more for French.......I also think you should just offer scones only, with a tea or coffee $18-$25..the scones must have plenty of jam and cream in little pots on the side....some people like honey as well.......Hot chocolate on offer of course, lots of different teas, and coffee.......only one comes with the food, after that you have to pay..........when you do the pot of tea though, have a second jug of boiling water to top your tea up...........Good high fluffy scones are a must raisin and plain....if you have pumpkin!!!! Oh YUM........Love love love mini quiches...not may people do those........I would do a citrus tart of some kind, a chocolate tart....even one with a meringue top.........CARAMEL tart...OMG love those....with a dob of cream on the top.....a really nice short short pastry with all the tarts.........a cute little biscuit of some sort, something pink as well -as in a mini cupcake...must be really moist not dry.........pink pink pink..........omg don’t get me started.....
NO SALMON!!!!! God....so many people do salmon sandwiches......the best are the chicken and mayo, ham cheese and chutney, even salami , cheese and chutney are sooooooo good............xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxox there is something wrong with me!!!!!!!!!
